Time spent getting to know yourself is important; most people don't take enough. To record my findings about myself, I document my thoughts, sometimes narrative and occasionally poetic, in a personal journal I call Paula's Prior Pilgrimage.

Time spent communicating thoughts and ideas to others is also very important because it gives us a chance to filter and refine our knowledge and see even more of ourselves by adding objective viewpoints.
